In a fable found in many cultures around the world, a hummingbird puts out a forest fire, one drop at a time, and "does the best she can," no matter how hard it is. For years, this fable has also served as a metaphor for climate justice activism, because climate activists, like the hummingbird, are doing the best they can tackle seemingly unstoppable climate crises in their communities and their countries. In this documentary series, we aim to tell their stories, the struggles they experience and the impact of the climate crisis in different parts of the world. Not only will these films be shared in this space as part of our youth-led storytelling platform, Mez, but they will also be screened in-person in schools and universities around the world. These screenings will also include guided discussions and Think Tanks, through which students will get a chance to reflect on the films, have meaningful conversations about the climate crisis, activists' mental health and wellbeing, and develop solutions for their own communities.
